New ‘WeAreInvictus’ app launched for international wounded, injured and sick armed forces personnel, serving or veteran.

The Invictus Games Foundation is excited to announce that a new free app and website in support of wounded, injured and sick (WIS) armed forces personnel, serving or veteran, is now available.

‘We Are Invictus’ is designed for international WIS service personnel to have a safe and secure space to support one another, beyond the Games. Members of the WIS community from 12 nations are already represented on the platforms, and they are also open to WIS from nations not currently competing at an Invictus Games.

Building on previous platforms designed to offer opportunities for the international community of WIS, including, but not limited to, former Invictus Games competitors, this new updated website at www.weareinvictus.co.uk is also available for free in app form for iOS [download] or Android [download].

As announced earlier this year, IGF were fortunate to receive a grant from the Veterans’ Foundation, to help the Foundation develop and build this virtual community, thank to its players taking part in the Veteran’s Lottery. The importance of bringing together the WIS community either digitally via the new platform, or through the opportunities that IGF provide beyond the Games, has proven a valuable resource for the community.

Former Team UK Invictus Games competitor, Rob Cromey-Hawke, said,

“Having been away from the WIS community for nearly two years due to personal challenges, the opportunity to re-engage, be supported by and support others, has given me a renewed energy to focus on the positives of life and the impact I can have on others.”

To download the app, which is free for members of the WIS community, head to the Apple Store or Google Play, or visit online at www.weareinvictus.co.uk. The registration process is designed to ensure that only those classified as having been wounded, injured or fallen ill, during, or as a consequence of, military service, are eligible to sign up.

The next Invictus Games are taking place in The Hague from May 9th to May 16th 2020. See https://invictusgames2020.com/ for more information.
